What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your phone, tablet, or computer when you visit a website. They can be “first-party” (set by us) or “third-party” (set by another domain, such as a font CDN or analytics provider). Similar technologies include local storage and pixel trackers — for simplicity we refer to them together as “cookies” here where they perform the same role.

Why we use cookies

  • Strictly necessary: to deliver pages securely, balance traffic across servers, remember that you’re logged in to an authenticated area (if we add one), or keep a shopping/booking session stable while you move between pages.
  • Functional: to remember accessibility choices or form defaults that you explicitly set.
  • Analytics: if enabled, to measure aggregate traffic, error rates, or campaign performance so we can improve content — ideally in a privacy-preserving configuration.
  • Marketing: only where you consent — for example conversion tracking from adverts — we currently minimise marketing tags but may add them with a consent banner if our practices change.

Types of cookie (by lifetime)

  • Session cookies expire when you close your browser — useful for short-lived booking sessions.
  • Persistent cookies remain for a defined period (days or months) so we can recognise returning visitors for necessary or optional purposes.

Third-party content

We load some assets from trusted CDNs — for example web fonts and icon stylesheets. Those providers may set their own cookies or read existing ones under their policies. Airport autocomplete queries our own airport_search.php endpoint; that interaction is covered in our privacy policy, not as a marketing cookie.

Your choices

Browser settings let you block, delete, or alert you to cookies. Blocking all cookies may break search forms, payment flows, or security features. Use “block third-party cookies” if you want a middle ground while keeping first-party functionality.

If we deploy a consent management banner in future, your choices there will control non-essential cookies in line with UK PECR/ePrivacy expectations.

Changes

We’ll update this page if we introduce new cookies or partners. Check the date shown on the policy header when you revisit.
